PetrOman’s maiden exploration is in the Sultanate of Oman.
Oman has long been a prolific regional producer of oil and associated gas and is the largest non-OPEC GCC oil producing country. More recently, Oman has stepped up its oil and gas exploration and production program, inviting foreign companies to participate in the next phase of the country’s energy production. PetrOman is honoured to be considered and looks forward to the potential of discovery.
Greater Oman (Oil) Basin
The Omani Ministry of Oil and Gas (MOG) has welcomed further exploration into the area flanking the Ghudun Salt Basin (west), the Rub Al Khali Basin (north) and the South Oman Basin (south & Western Flank). The area in question has already been mapped with multi-quality 2D seismic which, upon agreement to proceed, will form the basis for PetrOman’s 3D seismic work program following interpretation. From initial analysis, existing gravity, magnetic, seismic data and geology confirm basin geometry with multiple reservoirs being expected to be encountered in the Ordovician Safiq-Ghudun sandstones, where oil and gas shows have already been noted.
